A girl smiles in the Kangaroo Walkabout

The Kangaroo Walkabout is a must for any first-time visitor!

Coming to the Zoo for the first time and don’t know where to start? Use this handy guide to make the most of your visit!

Before You Arrive

Can’t stand waiting in line? Purchase tickets ahead of time and present them on your phone to avoid the hassle.

9:30 a.m. — Wild Florida

Start your day off right with native fauna like deer, otters, foxes and, of course, alligators! These animals tend to be more active in the cooler morning hours, so keep your camera at the ready.

10:15 a.m. — Lands of Change: Australia and Beyond

G’day, mate! Venture to the Land Down Under for a morning of unforgettable animal encounters. Feed the lorikeets and cockatiels before they get too full and marvel as gentle kangaroos scoot right up to your family. (Just remember to keep your hands to yourself.)

11:15 a.m. — Lunchtime!

Our dining venues see the biggest crowds between 11:30 and 1, so show up early for the speediest service. Enjoy a juicy burger at the Flamingo Café, savor made-to-order pizza and toasted subs at the Paws On Pizzeria or grab a quick bite at the snack kiosk.

12 p.m. — Expedition Africa

The giraffe and rhinos walk from their behind-the-scenes “bedrooms” to the public viewing area every morning, so give them some time and embark on your African adventure in the early afternoon. Get closer to these magnificent animals with giraffe feeding or a kayak tour down the Nyami Nyami River!

1 p.m. — La Selva

Trek from the savannas of Africa to the rainforests of Latin America, home to jaguars, monkeys, sloths and more. You’ll surely enjoy the cool respite of the shaded boardwalks!

1:45 p.m. — Caribbean Trail

This “micro-loop” is easy to find—just look for the friendly pirate! Spot plants and animals from these richly biodiverse islands, including the endangered Grand Cayman blue iguana.

2 p.m. — Paws On

You and your kids could spend hours in this section of the Zoo! Meet goats and alpacas in the Petting Zone, view behemoth fish in a 20,000-gallon aquarium, escape the heat and afternoon thunderstorms in the air-conditioned Wildlife Detective Training Academy and end your day with a splash in the Play Lagoon!
