Can you believe something this beautiful was made from wire snare traps?

You’ll soon have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind décor that gives back to wildlife. We will have products from Snares to Wares, a community-based conservation organization, available right here in our Wonders of the Wild gift shop.

Snares to Wares creates stunning art pieces out of wire snare traps removed from Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. These traps are used by poachers to capture animals such as lions, elephants and giraffe.

The wires are brought to artisans in the town of Pakwach, who train locals to make a living as craftsmen rather than poachers. These community members are the ones who craft the beautiful artwork that is available for purchase, giving them a means to provide for themselves and their families.
