Shanon takes a look at Rocky Road, one of our younger patients.

The Space Coast’s sick and injured marine reptiles are in good hands with Shanon Gann, our new sea turtle program manager! She will oversee all aspects of our behind-the-scenes Sea Turtle Healing Center.

You may recognize Shanon if you follow us on social media; she was our sea turtle program assistant from July 2016 to her promotion earlier this month. She succeeds Melanie Stadler, who left earlier in the summer after three years of service.

Shanon has a BS in biology from Florida Atlantic University and 15 years’ experience in the fields of wildlife rehabilitation and research. To say she’s passionate about sea turtles would be an understatement.

“I’ve always sensed a calling to help animals in need,” she said. “Sea turtle rehabilitation is the most demanding, overwhelming and, at times, heartbreaking experience I’ve ever had, but it’s ultimately the most rewarding.”
