Get those goggles on and come explore with us!

Our annual winter camps are back and better than ever! This January, children in kindergarten through second grade and third through fifth grade will have the opportunity to explore animal adaptations and Florida wildlife like never before.

From January 2 to 4, kids will get to experience Florida as the settlers did, learn about Florida science and even dig up Florida fossils! Below are some highlights that you won’t want to miss out on:

  • Sluice & Fossil Tent: Learn, study and dig up your own fossils.
  • Make Your Own Fossils: Use molds to make your very own fossils to take home.
  • Beeswax Candles: These are the bee’s knees! Use beeswax to make your own all-natural candles.
  • Snake Science Station: Learn all about these scaly creatures when you find out their strike speed, measure their jaw size and discuss the differences between venomous and nonvenomous snakes.

At our second session from January 7 to 9, campers will get to learn about climate, get hands-on with animal movement and put on their own armor like animals do! Here are some can’t-miss activities from this animal-centric camp:

  • Dip Netting: Find your own little creatures in our pond, use plankton tows to collect samples and get a closer look under the microscope.
  • Armadillo Armor: Learn about how these guys protect themselves at our Petting Zone, then put on your own armor made out of fun materials!
  • Egg Drop Experiment: Use your creativity by building a contraption to protect a raw egg from a high fall.
  • Blubber Gloves: What does blubber feel like? You can find out in this awesome (and gooey) experiment.

Both camps will feature our first-ever Mystery Trail, where participants will have 20 minutes to decipher clues, navigate a trail and solve some mysteries! This is our most hands-on activity yet, where campers in third through fifth grade can compete to finish while learning some cool facts.
