Cat and dog food

Our staff and volunteers are collecting cat and dog food for Paws on Wheels in honor of Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday, or as we like to call it, Giving ZOOday, is a special day of the year that encourages people to give back to the nonprofits that make their communities and world a better place to live.

In the past, the generosity of Giving ZOOday has helped us set up a manatee rescue team, feed our Zoo residents, and care for our Sea Turtle Healing Center patients. This year, we’re going to do a little giving back amongst our own team!

As an organization, we’ve decided to support Pets on Wheels, a program that delivers pet food to Meals on Wheels clients who have limited resources and often share their own donated food items with their cats or dogs. Aging Matters partners with the Brevard Humane Society to deliver cat and dog food on a monthly basis to ensure all their clients have enough food for their pets so they can eat the meals meant for them.

We’re supporting Pets on Wheels through pet food donations from our amazing staff and volunteers. Through their generosity, we hope to supply Pets on Wheels’ December and January’s needs (plus some treats and toys!) solely through those gifts. We can’t accept any pet food donations for Pets on Wheels outside of our Zoo staff and volunteers.

As our mission says, we want to share our joy of nature to help wildlife and people thrive. We know the joy any animal can bring, from the Florida black bears who call our Zoo home to the dogs and cats who provide companionship to their caretakers. We want to help people in our community feed their pets.

We hope that you will join us in marking Giving Tuesday by supporting a nonprofit that’s close to your own heart!

Brevard Zoo is an independent, not-for-profit organization that receives no recurring government funding for our operating costs. Your generous support enables us to continue to serve our community and continue our vital animal wellness, education and conservation programs.
