It’s no secret that rhinos aren’t doing so well. Africa and Asia were home to half a million of these magnificent creatures in the early 20th century, but only about 27,000 remain today. This World Rhino Day, consider doing your part by taking one (or more) of the following actions.
The most effective changemakers have a firm understanding of the issues they advocate for. Check out our World Rhino Day blog entry from last year to get started, then do your own research.
There are lots of fantastic organizations helping rhinos across Africa and Asia, and they need our help to continue their work. If you’re in the position to make a contribution (even a few dollars would be of great help), we recommend supporting International Rhino Foundation or Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
Brevard American Association of Zookeepers has long supported pachyderm protection through their annual Putting for Rhinos fundraiser. This year’s event will take place on World Rhino Day (Saturday, September 22) from 5 to 10 p.m. at Golf N Gator in Cape Canaveral. One round of golf is just $7.99 plus tax.
