Scatman John

Scatman John is ready to return to the sea.

Juvenile green sea turtle Scatman John will make their way back to the ocean after a two-month stay at our Sea Turtle Healing Center. The release will be held at Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront on Tuesday, October 22 at 10 a.m. Be sure to join us if you can!

Found stranded near the hotel and brought to us by Sea Turtle Preservation Society on August 25, Scatman John arrived lethargic with a bacterial infection. They were treated with nutritional support and medication, then deemed ready for release.

Scatman John was named as part of Proud Pour’s Cider for Sea Turtles launch campaign. Proud Pour is a Massachusetts beverage company that donates some proceeds from the cider to the Healing Center. It is available locally at Sunseed Food Co-op in Cape Canaveral, 4th Street Fillin’ Station in Cocoa Beach and Petty’s Meat Market in Melbourne.
