Nov. 3 is Election Day, and we’re supporting renewing the Save Our Indian River Lagoon Half-Cent Sales Tax.

The Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Half-Cent Sales Tax supports the investment in science-based projects to help the lagoon like reducing pollution, improving water quality, restoring natural ecosystems, and more. These funds go into a dedicated SOIRL Trust Fund, and the project plans are overseen by a Citizens Advisory Group. An annual audit also ensures continued transparency.

This renewal – not a new tax – will ensure that the ongoing work by East Coast Zoological Foundation and other partners in restoring our Indian River Lagoon to good health continues at the same level. We are just starting to see signs that the lagoon is beginning to return to health after decades of pollution – and we want to make sure this good work continues uninterrupted.

We want to continue this restoration work in the hopes that generations will be able to enjoy clean water and a healthy environment.  Your support of the Save Our Indian River Lagoon Half-Cent Sales Tax ensures the work – and the results – continue unimpeded.
