Other ways to gift experiences outside of the Zoo:

  • Sign up your loved one for cooking classes.
  • Enjoy a beach day together.
  • Explore nature at a local park.
  • Give them a subscription to a audiobook platform, streaming service, online magazine or other online entertainment.
  • Make your own gifts! Some ideas: DIY candles, baked goods or tea mixes.
  • Buy used. Consider shopping at thrift stores or antique outlets.

Extra tips for a sustainable holiday season:

  • For Brevard County residents: Live Christmas trees can be set out with regular yard waste after Christmas, the trees can be repurposed through a mulching process; or you can leave them in your backyard to compost naturally while providing shelter and food for wildlife. Remember: trees must be completely bare of decorations including lights, ornaments, tinsel, fake snow spray, stands, etc.
  • Holiday lights cannot go in curbside recycling, but they can go to metal recyclers! Check out the Brevard County Recyclopedia for more information.
  • Use baskets, newspaper, paper bags, burlap, cloth, or other creative reusable options for gift wrapping. Store bought wrapping paper is not recyclable.
  • ‘Tis the season for new electronics! Don’t forget: You can bring in your old smartphones, tablets, handheld gaming devices, digital cameras, chargers, headphones and other small electronics to the Zoo for reclamation through our Eco-Cell program! The electronics drop-off box is located to the left of the Zoo ticket booth just outside of the Guest Services office.

Brevard Zoo is an independent, not-for-profit organization that receives no recurring government funding for our operating costs. Your generous support enables us to continue to serve our community and continue our vital animal wellness, education and conservation programs.
