Noticed anything new while eating at the Zoo? We’ve partnered with Denver-based Service Systems Associates (SSA) to manage our culinary offerings, and we think you’re going to like the changes they have in store.
The Flamingo Café recently became Nourish 321, a stylish venue offering classic twists on old favorites. In the coming months, the Paws On Pizzeria will be split into two walk-up venues: Slice, serving fresh pizza, and Cones, serving ice cream and other sweet treats. You’ll also notice an ICEE kiosk and several new food carts.
“Dining plays a huge role in any Zoo visit, and our new menu and innovative design will really take the guest experience to the next level,” said Thomas Yeatman, SSA’s general manager for the Zoo. “We’ve introduced items like artisanal sandwiches, falafel and gourmet burgers that taste as good as they look.”
One of the most exciting aspects of this partnership is the introduction of reusable plates, bowls and utensils that will minimize the need for disposable plastics.
SSA’s commitment to the environment is in lockstep with our mission of “wildlife conservation through education and participation,” and it’s one of the primary factors that drove us to partner with them. Making the switch from single-use to reusable serviceware is a major milestone on our sustainability journey!
Though there’s a lot to choose from at Nourish 321, we understand it might not be for everyone. As always, feel free to bring your own lunch and use the picnic tables located just outside the Zoo entrance.
