Dolly, Lacey and Pearl are settling in well!
Our ostrich flock just grew by three! Help us welcome Dolly, Pearl and Lacey to our Expedition Africa loop! These three ladies, who sound straight out of a country song, have been settling in well and are getting to know their animal care team behind the scenes.
At only 6-months-old, they still have a bit of growing to do before being introduced to our other two ostriches, Linda and Little Foot. They’ve shown lots of interest in their keepers, with Lacey being the most outgoing. All three have been indulging in the extra attention and are always ready for a lettuce snack.
As highly social birds, growing our ostrich flock will greatly improve their wellbeing and allow them to live in a more natural way. With the addition of these new ladies, we expect to see breeding behaviors from Little Foot. You may spot him showing off some smooth moves during a courtship dance.
We hope that the trio will make their first appearance on our veldt in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on our social media channels for their official debut!
