Artists are invited to join Brevard Zoo’s upcoming mural exhibition, “Bold Murals: The Joy of Nature,” set to open at the Zoo February 15, 2025.

We are looking for 14 Florida-based artists who can be available to paint live at the Zoo for the first few days of the exhibition. Chosen artists will be asked to create 8-foot murals with the prompt of “How does nature bring you joy?” The completed murals from this first exhibition will remain displayed at the Zoo through May 2025. A second exhibition is planned for September 2025, and another call for artists will be held in spring 2025.  

Artists are invited to submit creative ideas to be juried, and the artists who are awarded the opportunity to participate will receive a $1,500 stipend for the work. Mural experience is not necessary, and we welcome all forms of artistic backgrounds.

Submission Requirements: Artists will need to provide a mural concept for this exhibition along with two samples of artwork. Applications will be reviewed by Brevard Zoo staff and a panel of select local artists. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by January 3.

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Jury Process: December 23 – January 3.
