Tips for a Great Visit

Tips for a Great Visit

  • The Zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with last admission at 3:30 p.m. We occasionally close early in preparation for special evening events and close to the public for large groups. We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
  • We’re all about extraordinary animal adventures! For an additional fee, you can feed giraffe, kayak through Expedition Africa and much more. Head over to Treetop Trek to soar through lush Florida landscapes and see parts of the Zoo from a unique perspective.
  • The average visitor spends about three hours with us. That includes viewing the habitats, experiencing some of our special adventures and playing in Paws On with your kids.
  • It rarely rains all day in central Florida, but from June through September it does typically rain every afternoon. If you’re visiting us in the summer, we recommend stopping by in the morning when it’s drier and cooler—the animals tend to be more active then, too!
  • If you have young children, you’ll definitely want to bring bathing suits and swim diapers! The Paws On section of the Zoo features a shallow water play area.
  • In an effort to be sustainable, we do not have print Zoo maps. However, you can snap a photo of one of our two main maps near the Zoo entrance and Nourish 321 Cafe. Or, pull our digital map up on your phone to use for your visit!

The Rules of the Wild

The following items and activities are prohibited in the Zoo:

Personal property left at the Zoo will be kept in lost and found for 24 hours, then discarded. The Zoo accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items.

No loitering or solicitation on Zoo property, including the parking areas, without prior Zoo approval.

Inclement Weather

The Zoo is open rain or shine and the vast majority of our experiences are outdoors. During severe weather, some animals will go off habitat and certain activities may close; these activities typically reopen 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder is heard. Refunds and rain checks are not offered for inclement weather.

Parking

Parking is free. A limited amount of RV and bus parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Free electric-vehicle charging stations are located in the Zoo’s south parking lot. They are compatible with all major EV models, including those manufactured by Audi, Chevrolet, Honda, Kia, Nissan, Tesla and Volkswagen. The FPL EVolution app is required to use this service.

Lost Children

We encourage you to establish a meeting place in case your group becomes separated. Instruct children to contact the nearest Zoo employee for assistance.

Accessibility

Wheelchairs are welcome in all areas of the Zoo. Some walkways include slight ramps and the Kangaroo Walkabout path is made of finely crushed coquina. Rainforest Revealed features an elevated walkway that can be accessed by a lift; we recommend calling prior to your visit to confirm the lift is operational. Temporary exhibits may include mulch paths. Attractions such as kayaking and Treetop Trek cannot accommodate wheeled devices.
