Valentine’s Day chocolates and bouquets are a thing of the past! Nothing says “I love you” more than symbolically naming a barnacle, rhino poop or a leech after a cherished friend, significant other or family member. Or, if love isn’t on the menu this holiday, name these little pests for an ex or enemy – we’re not here to judge.
For a $5 donation, we’ll send you a special digital certificate of your symbolic naming of one of these extra special critters (or poop) along with some fun social media graphics – all for you to either gift or revel in yourself.
Every donation goes toward our work promoting animal wellbeing, conservation and education! We all can love that!
Barnacle: Feeling a little “stuck” on your loved one?
Was your crusty ex hard to shake? This might be the adoption for you! Barnacles aren’t all bad, although they can cause some issues for marine life they encrust on. These little crustaceans filter water and are prey for other marine life.

Rhino Poop: For the turds in your life, adopt some Zoo poop!
Did you know that herbivore poop is composted at our Zoo and used in our landscaping? Poop might actually be more useful than your ex.
Leech: Loved ones sucking the life out of you?
Yes, leeches feed on their host – but it can be a mutual symbiotic relationship. Leeches are sometimes used in medicine to lower inflammation, prevent blood clots, improve circulation and more. They’re actually often used to help our sea turtle patients!
