Opening Guidelines

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and individuals with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

By visiting the Zoo, you are voluntarily assuming all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Please note:

  • To ensure the safety of our staff, guests and animals, we have implemented many changes to the Zoo experience
  • To ensure proper social distancing, we have limited the number of guests visiting the Zoo each day
  • The guidelines listed below are temporary and will be lifted once it is safe to do so. Changes can occur at any time.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Last admission at 3:30 p.m.

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Last admission at 3 p.m.

Both members and nonmembers must schedule an entry time online prior to visiting. Member reservations are FREE.

  • A timed-entry ticket or reservation is needed for each member of your party three years of age and older
  • Upon purchasing timed-entry tickets, nonmembers will receive an email with a link to register their tickets. We recommend capturing a screenshot of each barcode prior to arrival in case connectivity issues arise.
  • Upon reserving an entry time, members will emailed a receipt. This email, your membership card and matching photo ID(s) are required for Zoo entry.
  • The time chosen is your check-in time; once inside, you may stay at the Zoo until closing

Guest Services and Member Services will be operating at a limited capacity to assist with ticketing and membership issues only. You must purchase or reserve your tickets online prior to your visit.

Timed-Entry Tickets
You cannot show up at the Zoo without a timed-entry ticket. If you show up without a ticket, entry will be contingent on availability.

Mask or Other Facial Covering
For everyone’s health, all adults and children seven years of age and older must have a mask or facial covering that covers the nose and mouth to enter the Zoo. Mesh and crochet masks are not permitted. Be prepared for “mask zones” and areas where your group cannot social distance from another group by six feet. Be prepared to cover your nose and mouth with your mask or face covering at all times; do not put your mask or face covering in your pocket, purse or stroller. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The following areas are mask zones:

  • Meerkat viewing area (Expedition Africa)
  • Kayaking kiosk area (Expedition Africa)
  • Giraffe/rhino/lemur viewing area (Expedition Africa)

Credit Cards
If you plan to experience a paid activity, rent a stroller or make other transactions in the Zoo, please bring a credit card as we are working to remain as contactless as possible. We require a $4 minimum for every credit card purchase. Our vending machines accept cash.

  • If you arrive before the scheduled entrance time, your party will have to wait in your vehicle. Please ensure that you have everything with you before entering the Zoo.
  • There is a one-way path throughout the Zoo’s loops. You may spend as much time at exhibits as you’d like, but remain mindful of social distancing when other parties are present.
  • Food is available for purchase at Nourish 321 between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you’d like, you can place an order online and avoid standing in line.
  • Paws On water play is open at a limited capacity. If the Zoo is busy, you may have to wait to enter this area and playtime may be limited to 30 minutes.
  • The Petting Zone is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a limited capacity. We respectfully ask you not to touch the animals. If the Zoo is busy, you may have to wait to enter this area.
