Daughters of the Wild (DOW) is a youth organization which emerged after the extraordinary success and popularity of Brevard Zoo’s Women of the Wild (WOW). Oriented in addressing a wide range of conservation priorities, WOW has presented a wonderful opportunity to ensure that future generations carry on its mission of accomplishing positive change by raising awareness and garnering support for critical conservation initiatives.

Operating in concert with WOW, DOW embraces participation by female youth who are inspired and guided by members of WOW. DOW members are daughters, granddaughters, nieces and any other member of the younger generations connected to a member of WOW. To make sure all young women can share the opportunity, WOW has sponsorship opportunities whereby you can enable other youth to also enjoy the DOW experience!

Daughters of the Wild activities and events involve both Women of the Wild AND their “daughters.”

Examples of past experiences include:

  • Cotton tote bag painting to reinforce our responsibility to reduce, reuse and recycle
  • Pollinator bee box house building and painting to raise awareness of the pollinator crisis and a simple step you can take as a family in your own backyard to help
  • Making seed sticks to feed the Zoo’s aviary birds and seeing the importance of animal interaction and enrichment
