Behind the Scenes

Name: Rebekah

Species: Loggerhead

Date admitted: October 15, 2017

Stranding location: Coconut Point Park

Status: In treatment

Admission notes: Rebekah came to us with wounds from what appear to be a fishing line entanglement and possibly a predator attack.

November 17, 2017: Rebekah is doing very well with her little flipper nub. She has no trouble swimming, diving and chasing food (which we tease her with for exercise). She should be ready for release soon; it will be off-shore by boat with accordance with rehabilitation facilities in South Florida.

November 11, 2017: We were able to remove part of her left front flipper that was damaged by fishing line. She was quite emaciated when she arrived but has happily made up the weight. Rebekah eats very well and provides a lot of entertainment during feeding time!
