Name: Molar Bear
Date admitted: November 20, 2019
Stranding location: Vero Beach
Admission notes: Molar Bear is a juvenile green sea turtle that came to us from Vero Beach. This turtle has an old boat strike wound as well as a decent amount of FP tumors. Molar Bear spent the first six days of their stay on a wound vac to help heal the boat strike on their carapace. This turtle was moved to a pool on November 26 and began to eat on November 27! A CT scan will be scheduled soon to check for internal tumors.
December 20, 2019: Unfortunately, Molar Bear was humanely euthanized due to internal tumors that had spread to the lungs, humerus and cervical vertebrae.
December 9, 2019: This turtle’s boat strike wounds are healing well. Molar Bear went for a CT scan this week, results pending. This turtle also ate fish this week!
