Date admitted: December 14, 2018
Stranding location: Cape Canaveral
Status: In treatment
Admission notes: This turtle was found looking lethargic in Port Canaveral. Doozy’s blood values are good and we have found no fecal parasites thus far. They are a great eater as well. We hope this will be a quick turnaround in the Healing Center!
March 13, 2019: Doozy will have a blood check next week to see if they are ready to go home!
February 21, 2019: This turtle is trematode free and can be taken off medications!
February 13, 2019: Doozy received another round of praziquantel to hopefully knock out their trematode load. Fecals will be checked again here shortly. This turtle is currently living it up in a large pool all by themselves!
February 6, 2019: In Doozy’s second fecal check, we found a lot of trematodes. We plan to treat this turtle with an anti-parasitic and hope to have Doozy parasite free soon.
January 29, 2019: Doozy’s first fecal check came back clean! This turtle will have to pass two more fecal checks over the next two weeks to be considered free of trematodes.
January 23, 2019: Doozy gets a fecal fluke check this week, where we hope they will be parasite free!
January 17, 2019: Since our last fecal exam, the flukes in Doozy’s poop have decreased. This means the de-worming medication is helping this turtle! Doozy also had x-rays and bloodwork done this week and we hope to have the results soon. This turtle is eating well!
January 9, 2019: This week, we found flukes in Doozy’s fecals. This turtle started a round of de-worming medication and will hopefully be clean soon!
January 2, 2019: Doozy looks fantastic and is eating, swimming and responding to rehabilitation well. This turtle’s blood values were not as strong as we would like to see, so Doozy will be with us until those numbers get high enough.
December 27, 2018: Doozy continues to have an awesome appetite and stays active in their tank. This turtle is still receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics.
