Date admitted: November 29, 2017
Stranding location: Cocoa Beach
Status: In treatment
Admission notes: Sprite was found on the beach in Cocoa Beach and is a very small, juvenile green (only 24 cm, or 9.5 in). Little Sprite is typical of what we will start seeing now as the weather and water temperatures get cooler.
January 7, 2018: Due to our water heaters failing, Sprite was pulled from his tank due to cold water temperatures. He’s temporarily inside and warm until we get the tanks fixed.
December 23, 2017: Sprite is due for blood work next week and we hope to be able to take him off medications.
December 11, 2017: Sprite is doing very well. He is eating great and his fecal samples show no signs of parasites.
December 1, 2017: Little greens in a weakened state tend to strand in cooler water temperatures. These turtles usually have very low blood glucose levels.
