Homeschool Programs

Embark on an exciting journey with our team of enthusiastic Zoo educators! In our small-group courses, homeschool students are not just learners; they are adventurers diving into the fascinating realms of science and conservation. Picture interactive lessons where curiosity leads the way, thrilling animal encounters that bring lessons to life, and boundless opportunities for discovery.

We offer classes elementary classes (ages 5-12) and middle school classes (ages 13-15)

Drop off optional for 5–8 year olds.

Family Sunset Safaris

Come and enjoy an evening of family fun at the Zoo! This safari includes a private Paws On experience, including the Upland Acre playground and the Indian River Splash Pad (weather permitting). Finish off the night with a sunset walk around the Zoo to get a better look at animals who prefer twilight to daylight. This experience will give everyone the opportunity to spend quality time with their family and meet other homeschool families in the surrounding areas.

Exclusive Zoo School Experience

In this 3 day Homeschool opportunity, your child will learn about the intricate details of the food chain, the importance of plants, and how nature and technology are connected.  Through hands on explorations, including, dissections, experiments, and data collection, this expended experience aims to get them more connected to the zoo and the world around us.

Cold-blooded Creatures

Are they really cold-blooded? Let’s investigate how these animals use the environment to regulate their body temperature. Using surface thermometers, thermal imaging, and real live reptiles, we’ll discover the internal difference between cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals.

Release your inner artist as you paint a portrait of one of Brevard Zoo’s most charismatic and talented residents. While one of our animal care specialists explains how positive reinforcement is used to help our Zoo animals live their best lives, you will use similar techniques to create a keepsake painting! Feeding Friends-y

Join our Commissary staff for an in-depth look at animal nutrition as you help prepare and deliver a meal for one of our animals to enjoy! Students will determine what type of consumers different animals are, where they fall in the food chain, and how Brevard Zoo meets their species’ dietary needs.
